My client is looking for a Characterisation Engineer to join our growing team and play a key role in developing and implementing cutting-edge testing protocols.

Key Responsibilities as the Characterisation Engineer

  • Develop robust, automated testing protocols
  • Set up, configure, and maintain advanced optical and electronic testing equipment
  • Perform detailed measurements of optical, electrical, and material properties of photonic devices
  • Analyse test results, identify trends, and deliver feedback to improve fabrication and design processes
  • Troubleshoot and optimise test setups to ensure consistent, high-quality results.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Photonics, or a related discipline

Practical experience in Photonic Device Characterisation and hands-on use of:

  • Optical spectrum analysers
  • Power meters
  • Photodetectors
  • Interferometers
  • Automated probe stations
  • Proficiency in Python, LabVIEW, or similar tools for data analysis and test automation.
  • Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving abilities
  • Clear communication and documentation skills.
