We are seeking an Assistant Professor to strengthen the Psychology of Conflict, Risk and Safety section at the University of Twente. The position focuses on understanding how people perceive, experience, and respond to threats to psychological, physical, societal, and environmental safety. These include a wide range of contemporary challenges such as crisis situations, (cyber)crime, risk communication, restorative justice, and sustainability-related issues including climate change and societal transitions. The successful candidate will contribute to an interdisciplinary and impact-oriented research agenda aimed at addressing safety and resilience challenges, using evidence-based, and where relevant technology-supported, approaches that strengthen resilience and promote safer and more sustainable societies. The role combines research and teaching within our Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes in Psychology, as well as the Master’s programme in Risk Management, with a strong emphasis on connecting scientific insight to societal relevance and real-world impact.
Your profile
You are in possession of a PhD and have a track record in Psychology, related to PCRS’ topics of interest

You have excellent communication skills. Your English is at least at the C1 level and you should be able to teach in Dutch within three years.
You are in possession of a University Teaching Qualification (or similar), or are willing to earn one within three years.
Our offer
You will be appointed for one year with the prospect of a permanent position (32-40 hours/week).
Your salary and associated conditions are in accordance with the collective labour agreement for Dutch universities (CAO-NU).
Starting salary is between €4.728 to €6.433 gross per month based on your experience.
A holiday allowance of 8% of the gross annual salary and a year-end bonus of 8.3%.
