You develop your own identity as a mathematician and are encouraged to attract national or European research grants to support your research line, and/or to initiate collaborations with industry.
Moreover, you will be involved in the teaching program of the department of Applied Mathematics at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels, and the department also supplies service teaching to other programmes and faculties. During the first three years, you will acquire the University Teaching Qualification (UTQ). You will be supported to develop both research and teaching skills.
Your profile
You hold a PhD in Mathematics or a closely related field;
You have a proven research record, evidenced by high-quality publications or otherwise strong evidence of high research potential;
You are ready to take up the challenge to acquire external research funding via research proposals or via collaboration with industry;
You have good communication skills and you are an inspiring teacher;
You are willing to support departmental organisation, contribute to and take initiative in fostering a lively and collegial group culture.
You have an excellent command of the English Language. Willingness to learn Dutch is an advantage.
You have a University Teaching Qualification (Dutch: BKO) or equivalent or you are willing to acquire one within three years.

We offer a position with an initial contract of one year, which, after a positive evaluation, will be followed by a permanent contract. Part-time is negotiable. Criteria for evaluation comprise a strong track record of publications, evaluation of teaching capacities, a demonstrated ability to achieve an international network and reputation, and a demonstrated effort to acquire funding;
Your salary and associated conditions are in accordance with the collective labour agreement for Dutch universities (CAO-NU);
The position is at Assistant- or Associate Professor level, with a monthly salary ranging from € 4.728,– (scale 11) to € 8.673,– (scale 14) gross depending on qualifications.
Excellent benefits including a holiday allowance of 8% of the gross annual salary, a year-end bonus of 8.3% and a solid pension scheme;

A minimum of 232 leave hours in case of full-time employment based on a formal workweek of 38 hours. A full-time employment in practice means 40 hours a week, therefore resulting in 96 extra leave hours on an annual basis.
